On 18/4/2007, barring any flight delay, I will be on board MAS to Amsterdam. I am going on a budget, save-until-u die backpacking trip with a group of newspaper people. Group consists of a pig, an ex-sub editor, an editor and a reporter. The only one missing is a camera man and we will be able to cover The Olympics. Camera man will be going Hawaii shooting nudes , thats why he dont want to come to Europe with us.
How I come about joining this Europe trip? Long long loooooong time ago, I promise cousin Rain's to go to Europe with her before age 30. (Don't ask why 30. Its one of those inexplainable things sub editors do). When I made that promise 30 seems 1 century away.. but before I can say "damn!" 30 is this very very year! And so on the pressure is on, to go to Europe this very year or die trying!
Luckily the first the air ticket is cheap. RM 2160.00 inclusive air port tax and watever you can think off. There is nothing more cheaper than that if you want a direct hassle free flight that comes with breakie, lunchie and dinner from KLIA. Cousin Rain said its omen. We are meant to go...and the rest they said its history
Anyway, you might want to ask where are we going. We are literally going all over Europe. First to North Europe Amsterdam, then west Europe Prague, then east Europe Barcelona and last south Europe Italy. No one and I repeat NO ONE with any sane mind would travel the way we do.. but someone were quick to point out, I am not the typical normal pig either, so there you have it, an intenary no tour agency in matta fair dare to offer and thats a fact. I went to matta fair to ask every single europe booth on all europe itenaries that they offered. They basically look stunned when I ask of any trip that covers , ams, pra, bar and ita all in 1 go.....
Rain said people who went backpacking literally start planning as early as 1/2 a year before the trip. Wah... like having a baby. I only started officially planning when we bought the ticket. So its basically blog and forum surfing everyday till now. Lots of frustration especially when they other 3 are better at commenting than making decisions. Newspaper people... (=__=" ). I have to come on them like tons of bricks to book the domestic airlines not to mention hotel accomodation.
Want to know where is the planning? We have booked all domestic airlines. I am gonna fly like nobody's busines in Europe. Got accomodations in Amsterdam. I didnt get to book my fav hostel " The flying pig" but ended up staying in a church.
We have called a gang meeting during CNY to know each other. Yeah, we don't know each other... but things get better after initial ice breaking ceremony over grilled fish in some Maria cafe that has WiFi.
I am suppose to get everything organize into an excel spreadsheet for this friday's meeting in Maria cafe again. What can I say, their WiFi is good.Only 1 month away and 2 more destinations to go and 3 accomodations to book.. I need divine intervention before I go crazy!
